Everything you need for confident Japanese import ownership, included as standard.
Confidence, clarity, and peace of mind included with every Japanese import.
Japanese import vehicles are well known for their reliability, build quality, and high specification. However, we understand that buying an imported vehicle can sometimes raise questions around service history, UK compliance, and long-term ownership.
That’s why every Japanese import sold by Joseph Sutton Motor Company is supplied with our JSMC Japanese Import Assurance Package a comprehensive preparation and support package designed to remove uncertainty and give you confidence from day one.
This package is included in the price and applies exclusively to our Japanese import vehicles.

Finance terms, deposits, and monthly payments will vary depending on the vehicle and individual application.
Not automatically. Japanese imports are not penalised for being imported. In many cases, road tax is similar to a UK-supplied vehicle and is sometimes lower. The amount depends on how the DVLA classifies the vehicle when it is registered.
If official UK CO₂ emissions data is not available, the DVLA may calculate road tax based on engine size rather than emissions. This can result in a different tax rate compared to some UK-supplied models.
Some UK-supplied VW Up! models qualify for very low road tax due to their certified CO₂ emissions. If a Japanese-imported VW Up! does not have UK-recognised emissions data, the DVLA may tax it based on engine size instead, which can result in a higher annual rate.
Road tax rates are set by the DVLA and can change. Where possible, we can provide guidance based on similar vehicles, but the final amount is confirmed by the DVLA at the point of registration.
No. Insurance and road tax are assessed individually and being an import does not automatically result in higher costs.
